The Winter Guard program is designed to provide the young men and women involved with a positive team performance experience. Students will learn dance/equipment technique, leadership skills, teamwork and will grow to be more confident young adults. The program runs year-round with two different audition-only teams.
The Winter Guard team performs independently of the band and cheer programs. The group travels around Northern California to compete against other high school guards. All members must be able to spin tall flag, rifle, and possess basic dance skills. More experienced members may also have the opportunity to perform with saber and/or swing flags. This more advanced group offers training clinics in early fall. Regular rehearsals begin after auditions and continue throughout the competitive season ending in early spring.
